About Midland Special Steels
Midland Special Steels is proud to be the Midlands’ leading supplier and stockholder of high-quality special steels. Based at our modern headquarters and extensive warehousing facility in Dudley, we serve customers across the UK with a commitment to quality, reliability, and technical expertise.
As the sister company to Midland Bright Steels — an established and trusted independent stockholder since 2000 — we draw on decades of industry experience and a solid reputation for service. Midland Special Steels was created to expand on this legacy, focusing specifically on high-performance engineering steels for demanding applications.

We understand that our customers often work to tight deadlines and strict specifications. That’s why we invest in efficient stockholding systems, advanced processing capabilities, and fast dispatch services — all designed to help you get the material you need, when you need it. From cutting to length and centreless grinding, to heat treatment and ultrasonic testing, we provide flexible solutions that reduce your lead times and streamline production.
Our approach is built around long-term relationships and technical support. Whether you’re a local machine shop or a global engineering firm, we work closely with you to deliver steel that’s fit for purpose and fully certified. Every order is backed by full traceability and quality assurance, giving you confidence in the materials you receive.
At Midland Special Steels, we don’t just stock steel — we add value at every stage. Our experienced team is always on hand to advise on material selection, processing options, and availability. We believe in straight-talking, dependable service backed by real industry knowledge.
What sets us apart is the depth and breadth of our in-house stock. We specialise in alloy and special steels that form the backbone of our supply, offering customers immediate access to material that meets stringent engineering, manufacturing, and performance requirements. Our range includes popular through-hardening, case-hardening, and nitriding grades, with bar and block forms available in various conditions including bright drawn, hot rolled, turned, and forged.
